Roca One Day Design Challenge With Stella Ferrazzo, awarded 3rd Prize. This sink tackles the small details that can make a sink impractical, with a different material.

Project created in 8 hours in collaboration with Stella Ferrazzo, awarded with the 3rd prize of the Roca 1 Day Design Challenge. With a brief focused on the kitchen sink, we decided to tackle the small details that can make a sink impractical: Water splatering to the sides when washing dishes, a variety of things (soap, 2 sponges, a spoon, a wash brush,...) around the sink that need containing, and a separation in the middle that could be removed to clean larger dishes.

After a brainstorm session on problems, we moved to solutions. By using silicone for the sink itself we could make the edges lift up to avoid water going around the sink, and contain utensils when not in use. The middle separation also folds down, allowing the user to lay a large dish on it and manipulate with ease. Silicone is also durable, cost effective and easy to clean and install.
