Toutencanon

Label for the natural winery Domaine V Peyres in Gaillac, France. A "vin de soif" titled with a particularly characteristic wordplay.

Charles, vigneron at the natural winery Domaine V Peyres asked me to create a label featuring a quick sketch to illustrate his long-simmered idea of the "vin de soif" called Toutencanon.

This wordplay is a reference to egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. With a slight change in pronounciation, it sounds like a colloquial expression for a small glass of easy-drinking wine in French. Another reference also came into play: "Walk like an Egyptian" by The Bangles.

It is now sold and in demand all over France in Natural wineries, as well as England and Canada.

From three different directions presented, Charles selected a watercolor that brought an explosive dimension to the canon idea, a sense of fun into the Egyptian theme ("Walk Like an Egyptian" by The Bangles ) and a handmade feel that best suited the wine.
